If your child or young person has special educational needs (England) or additional learning needs (Wales), these may need to be formally assessed by the local authority.

How do I get my child assessed for an EHCP or IDP?

There has been a massive increase in the number of local authorities refusing to undertake an EHCN assessment in England and this has seen an unprecedented amount of appeals being registered within the last few years.  In Wales the new legislation that came into effect in September 2021 is also likely to result in an increase in refusal to maintain an IDP by a local authority and it is anticipated that there will therefore be an increase in the number of appeals in Wales.

I have extensive experience of navigating both the English and Welsh legislation and can ensure that your application is prepared and submitted effectively, reducing the likelihood of the local authority refusing to assess your child, or young person and reducing the need to have to appeal a decision to refuse to assess.
